Is It Safe to Get a Massage Right Now?

It is safe to go to massage studios, but make sure you are going somewhere that is keeping up with CDC guidelines and is taking healthy and preventative precautions.

Revive Bodywork has been rated COVID-19 Ready by Vagaro.

While stepping outside has been tagged with a sign of caution due to the spike of COVID-19, health professionals warn against the more silent ailments resulting from the pandemic, such as stress, anxiety and depression that are going untreated.

Therapeutic massage treatments lower Cortisol, the hormone that causes many of these mental/emotional afflictions. Some of these services at Revive Bodywork include Ashiatsu massage, Thai Floor massage, Deep Tissue massage, and even Prenatal massage- because let’s be honest, what is more stressful than being pregnant during a major pandemic? We get asked a lot, what to expect at a massage studio during this pandemic- like at any other time, you should expect health and wellness, studios specialize it in. However, to ensure a worry-free experience check that your desired facility is enforcing the following safety protocols:

  • Social distancing is key! Smaller facilities won’t have too much trouble adjusting. If you’re attending a larger Spa, call ahead and ask about their social distancing regulations. Many larger businesses will schedule only a couple clients at one time as to not overcrowd.

  • Studios should install HEPA Air Filters. HEPA air filters use UV Technology to kill bacteria, germs, and viruses.

  • Routinely sanitizing all surfaces and treatment rooms should be a regular procedure but taken especially seriously during this outbreak.

  • All sheets should be washed at high temperatures before reusing.

  • Face masks should be required for both staff and clientele at all times.

  • Therapists and clients will be instructed to wash their hands before and after every massage, and ask clients do the same.

If you forget your facemask or sanitizer, they should have plenty in the studio! It is important to remember, we are all in this together. These are unprecedented times, filled with stress and uncertainty, but don’t let your body or mind suffer in the interim.

And if you’re entirely uncomfortable visiting a public establishment, some studios are offering Covid-conscious outcalls or home visits.

Call your local studios today to ask about their code of Covid-conduct! Or book at Revive Bodywork to see for yourselves.
